HIPAA Training

HIPAA TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESEARCHERS

The MSU HIPAA policy requires all investigators (including student researchers) proposing to conduct research involving protected health information (PHI) complete the following HIPAA training modules:

  • HIPAA Privacy Training
  • HIPAA Security Training
  • HIPAA Training for Researchers

Faculty, staff, and student employees (including graduate assistants) must access these training modules through My Learning Connection.

(My Learning Connection can be found under the "Profile" tab when logged into My Missouri State)

Students not employed by the University can take the above HIPAA trainings through the Compliance Training for Academic Purposes for Students page.  Students must make several copies of their certificate in the even they need to verify their completion, as no automatic record is generated.  Students unable to provide certification of training will be required to redo the training in order to get a completion certificate.

Reprint Your Certificate:

If you have already completed the above training (after July 1, 2010) and need a copy of your certificate, you can reprint your certificate in My Learning Connection.

If you completed the HIPAA training prior to July 1, 2010, please refer to the Duplicate List of Completed Courses.

(In the left Navigation column, under Self Help, choose Duplicate List of Completed Courses, enter your login information and choose the course to which you require a reprint of your certificate)
