Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR)
To promote research integrity, ethical conduct in research, and to comply with federal requirements, Missouri State encourages all student, staff, and faculty researchers to be trained in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). Missouri State requires graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, associates, and trainees supported by specific federal research funds to be trained within 90 days of the start of support by the federal awarding agency. This requirement can be fulfilled by completing University-approved training. Those designated as PIs, mentors, and key personnel to the covered individuals will also be required to complete the training within the same time period.
Find the RCR training at the following link under the "Required Training for Federal Research Grants".

Research Misconduct
Research Misconduct is the falsification, fabrication, or plagerism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results. This does not include honest error or differences of opinion. The Director of Research Compliance is the Research Integrity Officer (RIO) and handles all allegations of potential research misconduct for employees and students at Missouri State University. The main objective of a research misconduct proceeding is to correct the research record (any published data) and to keep the record true. If you believe you have witnessed research misconduct, you are required to report it. Please contact the RIO at 836-3737 to set up a meeting.
Reports of alleged research misconduct can be submitted anonymously through the Ethics Hotline found here. https://www.missouristate.edu/internalaudit/Ethics-Hotline.htm (Please note, an anonymous report is more difficult to move forward in an investigation.) The research misconduct process does everything possible to keep a complaintant's identity anonymous to the accused if warranted and wanted by the complaintant.
